1.24b compatibility request - People still love warlockbrawl!

Hi! I'm an active RGC player that currently play more as BrokenEgg in RGC. I started playing warlockbrawl around 2012 in my local bnet server in Indonesia (I'm living in US now), and warlock has been my best game till now. I brought this up about 2 years ago, but I wanna sound it again! Warlockbrawl is still alive, there are still people loving it around the globe!

(EU) and (US) warlock still have few games daily. Moreover, I just visited iccup about 5 days ago and I know there are still lots of warlock games there. There are also this small group in (SA) warlock that plays 2v2 about 5 times every evening (their local time), but plays with 50 starting gold and 30 gold per round (I noticed that some skills such as link and entangle are very OP in higher gold). I simply wanted to say that they love warlock a lot though! They started playing warlock around 2 years ago in garena and gameranger and since about 2/3 months ago they found that (SA) warlock is a better place to play for them.

Not forget to mention, China and South Korea (M16 server) still have warlock games, and warlockbrawl is still alive in their local server. I know that the South Korean even have their own warlockbrawl website! I visited the China server, while tried to come to this M16 server but foreigner cannot play in their server because of blocked IP, seems like it is their government policy. Two years ago Koreans use 120 starting gold and 10/20 gold per round idk what is the state now. I believe south koreans are the best warlockbrawl player in Asia, that are close to top EU players!

At last, my own country, Indonesia bnet called IDGS Free still have warlock games daily since I'm keeping it alive. I have founded 10 clans so far, but only 1 is alive right now. But, about 20 of my members are still online daily and love to play with me. I used to use 50 starting gold and 25 gold per round, but now starting to make it 20 starting gold and 10 gold per round to bring this players to (Asia) warlock. Hakka is still keeping Asia alive and have tournaments like every months, I brought some of my local players to Asia.

1.24b COMPATIBILITY REQUEST: A huge problem with my local bnet is that we still uses 1.24b patch, so maps newer than 1.00b cannot be used. The bnet developers is already dead, and I believe they won't update it into a newer patch. We use the old 099c (still AOE, sadly) to play because 1.00b has a bug that makes people FE in the middle of the game. On my understanding, the newer maps can only be used in 1.24c and newer warcraft patches because the .j (jass) code has new features that did not work in 1.24b. Once again, I would like to request the developers that there is a published newer maps that works on 1.24b as well. We would be very happy to play the newer maps.

We would like to help you, but it seems there is no easy solution:

@Zymoran already tried many methods to locate and repair this problem, but without success.
1.24b is many versions behind the current 1.27. For context, 1.24c - the next version after 1.24b - was released in 2009. Blizzard's changelogs are uninformative. I could not find what exactly changes between those versions, in terms of script functions and APIs.
If Warlock was using some new functions that are not available in the old version, the map would fail to compile / launch. Instead you report a crash at a random time. We have no way to find the cause. If you could determine some the situation leading to the crash, we could investigate more.
It may even be so that the old version has some error causing it to crash when the game does something normal (creates 100 units etc), and this was fixed in the new version.

Maybe the RGC service could help you, either by providing a place to play the current WC3 version, or by showing how to update the server.

I see the problem now, will try to look at it. One thing I know is that the crash happened after the load bar is filled: FATAL ERROR! Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 0023:02A9F4C8. The instruction at '0x02A9F4C8' referenced memory at '0x00000004'. The memory could not be 'read'.

So I was talking about two different thing:

Warlock1.00b worked on 1.24b patch, however there is a bug that makes people FE in the middle of the game. I know this is fixed in newer maps.
Warlock1.00c and newer versions work on 1.24c patch and newer patches only. When played in 1.24b it will crash right after loading.

@Zymoran and @sides are able to edit the WC3 map, so it is their decision.

But given the list of difficulties presented earlier, I am afraid that even if the crash on game start is fixed, the crash in the middle can still occur.

Have you explored the possibilities of updating your server or moving to a platform with current WC3 version?

Yeah, none of the operator left know how to update into newer patch for the server. I won't get as many players if I need to move the platform since they're mostly random people and to lazy to move. Thanks for considering my problem 😃.

Maybe operators of other WC3 hosting services, like RGC , know how to update it.

Uhm yeah, but I guess they don't want to update it since the current warcraft used by people in my country is a hacked version (no CD key needed). If they have to change it to a newer version, some regulars might have trouble logging in because they need to download a new patch and change the version, ect. - they are trying to prevent this.
