Ya, that's right. We're going into that territory again.
Phoenix was a controversial spell removed a couple of years ago. At the time there were a lot of calls for a rework but it got lost in the debate and eventually Zym pressed the button and simply removed the spell and that was that.
I and some others have found this to be a dissatisfying end to the spell. The general consensus was that the spell was very fun to play. Who doesn't like flying around the arena on a bird? The problem was it was felt to be unfun to play against by all, and overpowered by some (most?)
The most popular rework design proposed by Insanity was that phoenix would be cancelled immediately after spell cast (but not channel, presumably.) This was even supported by myself (as one of the main players defending Phoenix). It would fix the issues people had with the spell being able to be used without consequence due to the ability to fly away again after going close and offensive.
I would propose to bring back Phoenix at it's last point in regard to duration and cooldown, with this rework added. It would be a separate spell to thrust toggle (Ghost has more similarities to thrust than Phoenix does to Thrust). I think it is sufficiently different from Ghost and so much fun as a spell to justify it's re-inclusion.
Phoenix wasn't given enough of a chance. Now that the debate has calmed down I'd like to see it given a chance again. At the time I had concerns for the viability of phoenix after such reworks, but at this stage in the games life I don't care if the spell is weak with that rework (and honestly, after seeing ghost's power level, it'll still be alright.) I just want to fly again.
